Board approves tentative CSEA agreement and declaration of need for credential authorizations

The board accepted a tentative agreement with CSEA chapter (classified school employees) that will enable pay increases for those staff; the district said the actual salary raise will be implemented before the next board meeting. Trustees voted in favor of the tentative agreement by voice vote.
Staff also presented the annual Declaration of Need that stays on file with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Human-resources staff explained the form lists estimated permits and authorizations the district might need next year—placeholders that do not mean all authorizations will be used but provide flexibility if staff members are working toward credentials. Presenters said credential shortages have eased since the height of COVID-era hiring and that only a small number of staff are currently working toward authorizations.
The board approved the tentative agreement and the declaration; staff will implement the agreed salary adjustments and continue monitoring credential needs, reporting back to the board as necessary.
