Healdsburg High juniors describe healthcare, engineering and athletic-training internships

Three juniors from Healdsburg High School described the career-exploration internships they completed through the district program and credited the experiences with clarifying career goals and offering real-world skills.
Sana Katsuki said she interned in diagnostic and imaging at Sutter Hospital and that she observed an interventional radiology procedure, adding, "I was able to actually see one happening, and that was just an amazing experience for myself and just really made me think that this was the right career path for me." Eli Zapata described athletic-training placements at Santa Rosa Junior College, including sideline care and a concussion protocol he observed, and said the experience convinced him to pursue further classes and shadowing. Brianna Cortesierra described hands-on mechanical and software work at Alio Labs and said she received an offer to return for a summer internship.
The coordinator reported partnerships with Healdsburg Hospital, Sutter, Montage, Canine Companions, PG&E and KRCB and said the district hopes to expand placements as employer capacity allows. Board members thanked the students and the teachers who coordinated placements.
