Staff told the council that large-grant applicants must present at a state board hearing and that presentations are typically brief (a few slides and five questions).
"I think we should find out when they're gonna have the hearing at board, and then I'd like to go along with you or I think they need some bodies to go and be a part of that hearing," the chair said. Staff said the hearing is usually in Salem in the last week of September or the first week of October but that timing can shift.
Council agreed it would be beneficial to have two or more people at the hearing to show support and answer questions; staff offered to notify council when the hearing date is set and to coordinate presentation duties.
