Hood County cancels telematics subscription for 61 vehicles; county keeps remainder of Sewell contract

County procurement staff reported a negotiated agreement with Sewell Fleet Management to remove 61 in-road vehicles from the company’s telematics subscription at no additional cost, while preserving other elements of the fleet contract.
Staff said the specific telematics offering had not performed as expected and that Sewell agreed to remove those vehicles without charging the county a $100 per vehicle liquidated-damages fee. "They agreed to let us remove those vehicles with no cost to keep our other aspects of our contract in place," staff said.
Commissioner Wilson moved to adopt the procurement action and Commissioner Andrews seconded. The court voted unanimously to approve removal of the 61 vehicles and directed the county attorney to prepare the cancellation letter and retain the remainder of the contract provisions.
