Neighbors warn Brookview Hollow PUD would strain roads and emergency response

Residents from Hunter Mill Way and nearby neighborhoods told the town a proposed development in the Brookview/Brook Hollow area would overload local roads and lengthen emergency response times. One resident said the neighborhood has narrow roads and few alternate routes, adding that construction traffic and new residents would change the area's character and strain services.

Town Manager Sean Mulholland confirmed the town is pursuing a phased traffic study and has hired Stantec as the engineer to produce conceptual intersection improvements paid for by the developer. He cited a concern that response times to the site would be "9 to 10 minutes" compared with a four-minute national standard for fire response and said the town is examining options including shared mutual-aid arrangements and the feasibility of an additional station. "So that's an option," Mulholland said, referring to partnering with neighboring departments, "or to build another fire station, which I'm very concerned about because I don't think we can afford to maintain another fire station." The town said it will hold neighborhood meetings and publish a strategy document before an application is submitted.
