District outlines plan to replace Lift Station No. 11, says equipment purchase and in-house installation will cut costs

Lake Arrowhead Community Services District General Manager Ryan Gross told the Executive Committee on March 16 that the District plans to replace Lift Station No. 11, near the North Bay Intake Pump Station on Hamiltair, with a new skid-mounted system.
"The project will replace an aging pneumatic sewer pump station that is over 40 years old and has exceeded its useful life, with a new skid-mounted system," Gross said, adding that the District intends to purchase equipment and use in‑house mechanical staff for installation to significantly reduce overall costs. He said final bids had not yet been received and that the project is included in the District's budget.
Gross described the approach as a cost-saving measure relative to a full-scale construction contract, saying the District expects the primary expenditures will be equipment rather than contractor construction costs. The presentation did not include a final cost estimate or a contractor selection; Gross noted staff would return with additional details as bids are received and the Board considers the item at a future meeting.
The Committee did not take a formal vote on the project during the Executive Committee meeting; the discussion was an agenda review in advance of the March Board meeting where the item is expected to appear for Board consideration.
