Resident services staff encouraged attendance at West Haven Community Day (resource fair starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday) and described youth programming that includes field trips to Richmond, Washington, D.C., and Kings Dominion. Staff said they are renting a 15-passenger van and coordinating trips to the International Spy Museum and other sites.
The department announced a new VISTA hire, Camilla Lightfoot, who will start on the 10th and will support grants and data work, and named Rico Harris as a new resident service coordinator working in neighborhoods. Staff said they will relaunch the school-year ‘‘donuts at the bus stop’’ program and are rolling out an emergency plan and fire-drill partnerships at Crescent Hall. An amended 2026–2027 plan was posted July 1; a hybrid public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. at the West Haven Center, and the board is slated to consider the amended plan at its Aug. 24 meeting for possible resolution and submission to HUD.
