Council approves consent items; resident reports two new Main/Kingston businesses and seeks action on Post Office property

The Caledonia City Council unanimously approved the Consent Agenda on July 13. Member Dave Fitzpatrick moved to approve the consent items and Member Bob Klug seconded; the motion carried 4-0. The consent package included approvals for payments and disbursements; a temporary liquor license for the Houston County Fair; Resolution 2026-09 approving election judge hires; street closures for the Helping Hands Backpack Giveaway; City Hall server warranty approval; and the hire of EMT Shelby Gulseth.
During public comment, resident Tracey Knutson updated the council on two new businesses opening at the corner of Main and Kingston and described her efforts to get the Post Office property addressed. No formal action on the Post Office property was taken at the meeting. City Clerk/Administrator Jake Dickson and Public Works/Zoning Director Casey Klug provided routine updates on the pool, grant activity, sidewalk projects, and other city operations.
