Haverhill Council re-elects Jay Foy as mayor, Lawrence Gordon as vice mayor

The Haverhill Town Council completed its annual reorganization at a March 12 meeting, re-electing Jay Foy as mayor and selecting Lawrence Gordon as vice mayor.
Council Member Mark Uptegraph nominated Jay Foy for mayor and Council Member Teresa Johnson nominated herself. The Council voted 4-1 to elect Foy mayor, with Council Member Johnson casting the lone dissent. For vice mayor, Mayor Foy nominated Lawrence Gordon while Council Member Johnson nominated herself; the Council again voted 4-1 to elect Gordon.
The reorganization was administered at the start of the meeting; Town Attorney John Foster performed the swearing-in for Foy, Gordon and Johnson. Mayor Foy called for public comment following the reorganization and none was offered. The Council then approved the meeting agenda 5-0 and moved on to other business.
Votes at the reorganization were recorded on the record and reflected during roll call. The Council convened with a full complement of members present and adjourned the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
