Acton approves District One and Two roadwork scopes, eyes state speed-trailer grant

The Select Board approved roadway work for District One and District Two at its Nov. 1 meeting, accepting estimates to complete paving shoulder work on Buzzell Road, Peck Road and West Shore Drive and noting additional ditching and riprap needs on the end of Peck Road. Road Commissioner William Langley described the work as estimates and recommended renting a shoulder machine to finish shoulder work next week.
Select Board Member Edward Walsh moved to accept the District One and District Two scopes as presented; Daniel Norwood seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote. Afterward Langley said he attended a Maine Local Roads class addressing speeding and traffic controls and noted that state grant money is available to apply for a speed trailer; he provided contact information from Sanford for follow-up.
The work approved is scoped as estimates; Langley confirmed the Peck Road section will need ditching and riprap. The board also discussed private roads and town spending authority; no change to the town’s private-road spending policy was announced.
