The Wood Village City Council conducted its annual evaluation of City Manager Greg in open session and approved a 5% merit bonus for the coming year.
Greg opened the conversation by saying he preferred transparency for the evaluation rather than holding it in executive session. Councilors responded with consistent positive feedback on governance, fiscal management, staff morale and regional partnership work. One councilor said, "Greg's more than deserving of another 5% this year," and a motion to approve a 5% merit bonus was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Councilors also discussed areas for continued professional growth, including exposure to capital-project oversight and public–private partnership structures, and raised ongoing operational challenges in interagency relationships with county departments. Greg said the evaluation process is most helpful when it reflects ongoing, non‑surprising feedback and affirmed he wants to use any input constructively.
What happens next: The 5% merit bonus will be processed through payroll as directed; staff will continue to bring periodic updates on priorities flagged during the evaluation.
