The Osage City Council on May 12 approved an agreement to accept ownership of the property at 00000 N. 6th Street from VanArsdale Funeral Services in exchange for the City arranging and completing demolition of a structurally failing garage. The motion, made by Council Member Mike Handly and seconded by Jeff Tice, was declared carried 8-0.
City Manager Katie Hodge told the Council the structure presents an imminent safety concern and said the proposed transfer would both remove the hazard and provide the City with property that could be used for future public parking. Mr. VanArsdale indicated willingness to discuss the option. The minutes record the Council authorized staff and the city attorney to prepare and execute documents necessary to effectuate the transfer and demolition.
The action is a property-transfer and demolition authorization; it does not itself set a timeline or dollar amount for demolition work in the minutes. Councilors did not record any opposing votes.
