The Osage City Council on April 28 voted unanimously to set a public hearing on the proposed condemnation of the structure commonly known as 00000 N. 6th Street. City Manager Katie Hodge reviewed the condemnation process for the council, and Code Administrator Jim Welch answered council questions about the subject property.
Councilmember Mike Gilliland moved and Councilmember Mike Handly seconded Resolution No. 1151, “Fixing a Time and Place and Providing for Notice of a Hearing … on June 23, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Room located at 221 S. 5th Street in Osage City,” to allow owners, lienholders and occupants to appear and show cause why the structures should not be condemned. The motion was declared carried 8-0. The resolution schedules a formal hearing; no demolition or repair orders were issued at the meeting.
The resolution identifies the property as Wetheralls 1st Addition, LT 11 & W12' LT 9, BLK 14 Less RR ROW, commonly known as 00000 N. 6th Street, Osage City. The council's vote only sets the procedural hearing and notice; any final condemnation order would follow the public hearing and statutory notice procedures.
