Historic Preservation Commission members introduced the project and described the site as a rare surviving example of a pre-motel-era cluster of cabins and the adjacent roadhouse/nightclub. A commissioner said the owner is "excited about the opportunity" and that listing would make the property eligible for additional grants to restore and maintain the buildings. The commission said the county already applied and expects the contract to be executed when the award is finalized.
Supervisors asked practical questions about property access and later maintenance obligations. A commissioner clarified that National Register listing itself does not prohibit an owner from later demolishing a property, but federal standards apply if federal preservation funds are used for restoration. A motion to authorize the chair to sign the HRDP agreement passed by voice vote.
