Council updates Brownfield Authority organization; cleanup activity reported at problem property on Jewett

Legal counsel told the council the newly organized Brownfield Redevelopment Authority — created under recent council action — met and that a state-paid land bank consultant, Emily Doerr, will develop a plan to address scattered vacant properties across the city.
"We now have a Brownfield Authority serving our land bank," counsel said, describing the authority's role in attracting developers and enabling brownfield incentives to support housing on vacant parcels. Counsel said the consultant will bring a plan back to the land bank and the new authority for consideration.
Counsel also gave an enforcement update on 11055 Jewett, a property previously described at a court-ordered inspection as severely neglected with numerous maintenance violations. He said publicity and social-media attention prompted a cleanup effort at the interior, though the property is not yet fully compliant and enforcement efforts continue.
Council voted to receive the legal update on file.
