Teamsters Local 600 warns of informational picketing and election-site outreach if bargaining stalls

William Dyson, speaking for Teamsters Local 600, told the commission that union bargaining with the county has reached an impasse and warned of public outreach and protest steps if negotiations do not resume. "Beginning August 1, we will conduct in informational ticketing, protesting, door knocking, and hand building throughout St. Francois County," he said, announcing the start date for public actions and adding that the union would distribute materials at election sites beginning Aug. 4.
Dyson said Local 600 would prefer to return to the bargaining table but that the union will exercise its legal rights to inform the public about the status of negotiations. Commissioners acknowledged the concern and framed it within broader budget constraints and the county’s need to balance raises across multiple employee groups as the county prepares its 2027 budget.
Union officials and county staff exchanged figures during public comment about comparative pay and county fiscal limits, and the auditor urged both sides to reach an agreement quickly so budget planning can proceed.
