Resident seeks reimbursement for right-of-way tree removal; Verizon coverage concern raised

Resident Clint Gray said he removed two hazardous trees from the town right-of-way after branches fell into the road and created dangerous conditions; he asked the board to reimburse $750 per tree for a total of $1,500. Tim Simpson moved to reimburse $750 per tree but the motion received no second and failed. The board said it needs to create a policy for resident tree removal in the right-of-way before approving reimbursements.
Gray also raised an independent concern about mobile coverage: he said Sutton had better cell service when coverage came from Burke Mountain but that service declined after Verizon moved its tower/service to a pole on Route 114. He suggested the town approach Verizon or another carrier about installing a repeater or tower near the cemetery to restore coverage. He closed by thanking the town crew for their road work.
