Board hears timeline and weight-limit constraints for Fiddlehead Lane bridge

Nate Sicard of Ruggles Engineering told the board he is trying to get the Fiddlehead bridge constructed and placed as soon as possible and that the board and engineer are coordinating on costs, completion timing and temporary utility arrangements, including discussions with Lyndonville Electric about a temporary electrical line for customers whose power will be interrupted. The board scheduled a special meeting on or about October 7, 2024 to continue coordination.
Fred's Energy representative Conrad Bellavance reported that, after speaking with Dana Patoine, the temporary bridge "has a limit of 16,000 lbs," which prevents Fred's full-size delivery trucks from crossing due to liability; he said the company will use pickups with smaller tanks to continue fuel deliveries until the permanent bridge is in place. The board did not announce a date-certain for final bridge completion at the meeting.
Next procedural step: board members and Ruggles Engineering will meet at a special session around Oct. 7 to review costs, scheduling and utility coordination.
