Heritage Pines board approves Premier Lakes contract for pond algae treatment at $19,200

The Heritage Pines Community Development District Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Oct. 15 to award a one-year pond-algae treatment contract to Premier Lakes, Inc. for $19,200. District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal and said the Premier Lakes price represents an annual savings of about $3,200 compared with the existing SOLitude contract.
During discussion, resident Susan Napolitano asked what chemical SOLitude uses in the lakes; Adams said “a copper-based product is used to target algae,” and that any odor is caused by algae degasification and typically lasts a couple of days. Adams said, if approved, the District would initiate SOLitude’s 30-day termination clause with service ending Nov. 30 and Premier Lakes commencing service on Dec. 1.
The motion to approve the Premier Lakes proposal was made by Supervisor Michael Walsh, seconded by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, and passed by a unanimous board vote.
