Carbon County Airport manager seeks approval for Veterans Day "hangar hop" event

Logan Walters (S8), airfield manager for Carbon County Airport, asked the commission to support a first annual Veterans Day hangar hop proposed for Nov. 14, aiming to raise awareness of the airport and community engagement.
"The hangar hop is gonna be proposed for November 14," Walters said, adding the event would include a moment of silence for veterans, live music, food trucks and outreach to flying museums to display World War II aircraft. Walters said the county would not need FAA approval for basic ramp and hangar access but would issue NOTAMs; turning the event into an air show would require additional FAA coordination.
Commissioners voiced support for the idea and encouraged follow-up after the event. Walters said the first year would be free to the public and that future events might switch to paid admission depending on interest and costs.
The commission did not record a formal vote on the proposal at the meeting; the airport manager said he would report back after the event.
