DA's office says it can loan an auxiliary vehicle for a year; commissioners weigh fuel and maintenance costs

John Renn of the district attorney’s office told the court the DA’s office has five vehicles and one spare that has been used as an auxiliary vehicle; he said the oldest two DA vehicles have high mileage and could continue in limited service for another year. “I think we could get by another year,” Renn said, noting one vehicle has about 179,000 miles and earlier engine repairs costing roughly $3,500 this year.
Renn offered that if the court wished to assign a spare vehicle to the crime-victims position full time, the DA’s office could accommodate that but asked the court to add roughly $3,000 to fuel and $1,000 to maintenance for that vehicle. Commissioners agreed to reallocate the relevant vehicle line items (fund 49 / account 4505) and to add $4,000 in operating for fuel/maintenance on page 23 of the packet.
