Council backs design contract for enhanced Jim Campbell Boulevard crosswalk

Council approved an agreement to hire OHM Advisors for engineering and bidding work for an enhanced, multimodal crosswalk along Jim Campbell Boulevard near the Lake Erie Electric Trail, not to exceed $39,500. City manager Hamilton said the full crossing project, including lighting and multiuse accommodations, is estimated at $163,000 and that initial ODOT support grew after the city included lighting in its funding request.
Hamilton told council the project aims to create a continuous multimodal pathway connecting the trail and school areas and that any bids will be returned to council before construction. Council members praised the focus on pedestrian and bicyclist connections near the high school and stadium; Hamilton said staff will coordinate with schools and ODOT on scope and funding.
