Duchesne County commissioners on July 13 approved the purchase of three propane tanks and associated installation for the county’s new Road Department building.
Building & Grounds Director Shane Jenkins presented two bids: Big T Propane for $78,929.03 (three 1,990‑gallon tanks) and Mountain West Propane, Inc. for $59,572.00 (three 2,000‑gallon tanks), both including piping, regulators, fittings, compressed propane, and labor. Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to accept the Mountain West Propane bid and Commissioner Jeff Chugg seconded; Commissioners Killian, Chugg and Chairman Greg Miles voted aye and the motion passed.
The commission instructed staff to fund the purchase from Fund 41. The decision follows discussion of tank sizes, vendor pricing and project needs; Director Jenkins had previously confirmed a Ferrel Gas phone quote of roughly $24,000–$26,000 per tank but presented the two formal bids for competitive comparison.
The purchase clears a procurement step for the Road Department relocation; commissioners did not request further changes to the specification and the contract award was final for the item at the July 13 meeting.
