At its July 31 meeting the Acton Select Board approved three separate items: a Mass Gathering permit for Vacationland VW for Aug. 4; a CMP pole permit for Peck Road (Pole 2S); and a contract with R.H.R. Smith to maintain fixed-asset inventory and appreciation schedules used in audits.
Tom McGurty made the motions to approve the Mass Gathering and the pole permit; Daniel Norwood seconded both motions. Ed Walsh seconded the fixed-asset contract motion. Each vote was recorded in the minutes as unanimous — "All in favor; motion carried." The board also discussed updating the Mass Gathering Permit ordinance with the fire chief's input on attendance and traffic control and indicated the ordinance changes would be considered for the annual town meeting.
The R.H.R. Smith engagement is presented as part of ongoing audit support: the firm maintains fixed-asset records that feed audit schedules. The board executed the agreement to continue that service; the minutes do not list a contract dollar amount or term.
