Engineer reports progress on new water tank; geotech finds 26-foot fracture

An engineering update on the new water tank project reported that geotechnical work and site preparation are on track and that drilling locations will be set soon.
"They're gonna set up exact drilling sites on the location... and once I have those in hand, I can task the surveyor to come out and do his job," said the presenter Rick McCong (speaker 9). He told the council that the engineer expects the project to move forward "in the very first part of good weather" and that he did not foresee significant holdups.
A councilor asked about an old landslide to the southeast of the site; McCong said the fracture identified in the report is about "26 feet deep," and that the slide area is separated by a small valley and therefore not expected to block the current work plan. Councilors expressed relief that the site work is scheduled appropriately and asked staff to continue monitoring geotech recommendations.
No vote was required; the council received the update and the project will proceed to surveying and excavation when drilling sites are finalized.
