Council discusses annual volunteer fair to fill committee vacancies

Councilor (speaker 4) supported the idea: "I think it's not a bad idea to reach out…for all the positions that are available," and other members suggested tying recruitment to the State of the City event so attendees can sign up on the spot. The council discussed creating or expanding a new-resident packet listing volunteer opportunities; staff said the city already gives a packet to residents who sign up for utility services and can add volunteer information.
The council did not formalize a new policy during the meeting but endorsed further outreach and agreed to rely on both event-based and rolling recruitment depending on capacity.
