Payson reports 43 new businesses over the year; developers eye annexations and housing sites

Economic Development Director Brian Hulet reported that Payson has added 43 new businesses in the past year: 18 commercial, 24 home businesses and one temporary business, while three businesses closed. He said a timber-frame company occupied the old bowling alley building and that multiple developers are considering annexations and housing around the Turf Farm and 'P' Mountain areas.
The board discussed how to connect students and local business needs through the UVU/MTech committee and other workforce efforts. Mark Kershaw said the committee will coordinate surveys with Onpoint to determine business needs and explore internship and volunteer opportunities for high-school and college students.
