Planner Michael Bryant presented a request from the Hiatt Creek Plat A developer to designate a required stormwater retention facility as open space. Michael said the developer’s plat shows where the proposed stormwater facility would serve as required open space and confirmed the HOA would manage the area once constructed.
Councilmembers raised concerns about drainage and child safety near retention areas and urged developers to prioritize usable green space. The council approved Resolution 05-06-2026-G allowing the stormwater facility to count toward open-space requirements, with the expectation that drainage meet city code and the HOA maintain the area.
