The Payson City Council on May 6 approved Ordinance 05-06-2026-B to review and adopt the city’s tentative budget for fiscal year 2026–2027 and scheduled public hearings for June 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Finance Director Cathy Jensen presented the budget and described changes since the council’s April review, citing impact-fee reimbursements in Public Works and wage increases in the information-technology budget.
Councilmember Ryan Rowley told residents the overall budget is smaller than last year: “the budget is 5% less than last year.” Councilmembers requested a follow-up work session to review finer detail before final adoption. The council approved the motion, which was moved by Councilmember Brian Hulet and seconded by Councilmember Ryan Rowley; the roll call vote was unanimous.
