Holly Marrero, the Senior Center Director, told the Board that the center has sought a full-time position for eight years and that demand has grown substantially. "The full-time position has been a request for 8 years and the need only gets greater noting that membership has increased by 466 people over the last 2 years and that it is not uncommon to have over 100 members come in daily," she said.
Residents and other commenters echoed the staffing concerns and argued that cuts to operations should not disproportionately affect services relied upon by older residents. The Board's adopted Town Operations budget does not explicitly add the requested full-time Senior Center position; community members raised the staffing issue during public remarks as the Board debated broader operational cuts.
