Community Development Director Daniel Cardenas presented an application from St. John Properties to add Use 6250 to permitted principal uses in The Grove Commercial Sales Subdistrict; the use category includes pressing/alteration, dry-cleaning pickup (only), fur repair/storage, shoe repair/shining, and locker rental.
Applicant representative Marty Beaumont said they seek the change to keep the tenant pool broad. The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed amendment on June 26, 2025, and provided a unanimous recommendation for approval. Council voted to adopt Ordinance 2025-014, allowing these retail/service uses (note: laundromats remain prohibited; on-site dry cleaning pickup is the intended use).
Council discussion touched on potential service benefits for nearby customers and how locker or pickup services might be used by retail patrons in The Grove area.
