Pleasant Grove reports busy summer: crashes, promotions, park maintenance and generator work
Summary
Police and Fire chiefs reported multiple serious crashes and mutual-aid wildfire deployments; two police sergeants were promoted. Public Works and Parks updated the Council on roadway projects, a recreation-center generator, ongoing water leaks, and planned warranty work at Cook Family Park.
Police Chief Keldon Brown told the Council officers responded to juveniles trespassing and vandalism at Evermore Park and several recent serious vehicle-versus-bicycle and motorcycle collisions, noting multiple substantial injuries and fatalities in recent weeks. He said officers will continue targeted enforcement and that two officers, Rick Henderson and Alex Garcia, were promoted to Sergeant; new officers are scheduled to graduate from the Academy in August and September.
Fire Chief Drew Engemann reported over 100 calls so far in July and described mutual-aid deployments to the Forsythe Fire and Deer Creek Fire. Recreation and Parks staff briefed the Council on heavy use of facilities, 'Summerbration' planning, and an upcoming closure at Cook Family Park for warranty work on the splash pad concrete and roofing.
Public Works Director Neal Winterton updated the Council on roadway microsurfacing remedial work, near-complete installation of the recreation center generator (for emergency-shelter power), and active water-leak repairs; he urged residents to report daytime watering by large users via info@pgcityutah.gov. The Council asked staff to prioritize irrigation controller handoff and turf repair at Cook Family Park.
