Pleasant Grove City Council on Sept. 2 adopted Ordinance 2025‑022 to amend Section 10‑15‑48 of the city code to permit mobile food businesses to operate within public parks when a Food Truck Public Park Permit is approved and conditions are met.
Community Development Director Daniel Cardenas explained the permit would specify the park location, parking spot and allowable days; the ordinance addresses cleanup, park hours and advertising. Administrator Scott Darrington clarified that special event permits already allow food trucks for events, while the new amendment covers regular park operations by permit. Assistant to the City Administrator Sierra Pierson assisted in drafting the ordinance; Planning Commission and staff recommended approval and the Council voted unanimously to adopt the amendment.
Permitted hours, location restrictions and trash removal requirements will be included in permit conditions; businesses will still need to comply with health, safety and city licensing requirements before operating.
