Mobile firefighters thank council for considering 2.5% COLA for retirees

Seth Blitch, president of the Mobile Firefighter Association IAFF Local 62, spoke during public comment to express appreciation for Resolution 09799, which contemplates a 2.5% cost-of-living increase for retired police and firefighters.
Blitch said he represents about 55% of active firefighters and noted sacrifices by personnel and their families: "As firefighters, we sacrifice a lot to serve citizens in Mobile...For our retirees, especially men and women that have been retired for over 10, 15 years, they have continued to sacrifice," he stated and thanked the mayor, pension board members and council for their consideration. The council recorded the comment; the resolution was held over for further process according to the agenda.
