Timothy Hollis addressed the council to request formal recognition and protection for the Tomanville neighborhood's historic assets, saying the community produced multiple nationally notable figures and that its architectural and cultural resources "cannot be replaced."
Hollis asked council to "commission a professional historic resource survey, identify Tomanville's contributing homes, schools, parks, churches, streets, and cultural sites, and begin the formal evaluation process for local historic district and national register recognition." He offered to assist the city in that process. Council members responded positively, with one saying they had already begun preliminary work and pledged to follow up with Hollis.
The council did not adopt a binding order at the meeting; Hollis's request was recorded and council members indicated intent to start the process.
