County funds school increases as state aid rises; $1.6M local transfer included

County staff said the proposed budget fully funds the school division’s FY27 request and reflects a substantial year-over-year increase in state support. Mallory Stribling said the school division will receive about $6.8 million more in state revenue overall, with roughly $5.4 million of that directed to salary increases for school staff.
Stribling said the county’s local support for the school division totals roughly $131.8 million across operating transfers, consolidated services and debt service; the county budget includes $700,000 toward school capital maintenance within the CIP. Staff also noted the school division’s health-insurance budget exceeds $29 million for FY27 and said the county and schools have planned to recoup shared employer contributions over a three-year effort that concludes this fiscal year.
Supervisors asked staff to show one-time funding columns and year-over-year carryover metrics for clarity at future meetings.
