The Planning Commission on Feb. 19 forwarded a special-exception request (SPEX-26-026091) for a salt-shed at Corral Farm Landfill to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation of approval after a staff presentation described the project and its conditions. "The proposed facility is an 11,250 square foot dome like structure that's to be used for the secure storage and loading of road salt," said a staff presenter.
Staff said the total property is just under 200 acres, with the proposed use area at roughly 3.5 acres; the project would include paving and widening existing landfill access roads and require all applicable permits and a site plan before any changes. A January 2026 memorandum of agreement between the county and the town was noted; staff described operations as event-driven with up to about 50 trips per day during active winter operations. No public speakers addressed the application; the commission closed the public hearing and approved forwarding the special exception to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation of approval.
