The Fauquier County Planning Commission voted on Feb. 19 to initiate a zoning ordinance text amendment affecting Section 13-300 and forward the proposal to the commission's next regularly scheduled meeting for formal consideration and possible action. "Just requesting the initiation to update those sections of the ordinance to be consistent with this Code of Virginia," said Shellenberger, a staff presenter.
Commissioners and staff said the goal is to remove inconsistencies between the county ordinance and state law that can complicate permitting and review for staff and developers. There were no public speakers on the item. The motion to initiate the text amendment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The item will return to the commission at its next regular meeting for further review and any formal legislative action.
