Mayor Guy L. Fugal and Paula Fugal announced they purchased a 59-acre hillside parcel on the east bench and said they would like to gift that property to the City for conservation. Mayor Fugal noted the property is above water tanks and discussed options to pursue a conservation easement, including working with the U.S. Forest Service on trailhead access and potential aquifer recharge opportunities.
The couple indicated the conservation easement would be named to honor his family (the Neils Fugal Sons conservation easement) and that final terms and any required trades or easement language will be negotiated with the Forest Service and city staff. Council members expressed gratitude for the offer and said the details will be worked out with the next mayor and staff.
