City postpones Via launch to refine rebranding and fleet strategy, aims to reduce spare ratio

Administration said the city is running the same routes and that the fleet plan identified that of six vehicles previously slated for replacement this fiscal year, three do not need replacement, reducing near-term procurement. The administration described a goal of bringing the spare ratio down from about 30% to the FTA requirement of 20% and said target launch dates could be after Labor Day or Sept. 30, depending on rebranding and procurement progress.
Council members asked whether the city has enough vehicles for the Mogo-style service and how many are in operation; administration said three were operating and the count is expected to reach seven, with more precise numbers to be provided. Administration also said it is coordinating with the FTA and will update the city's FTA profile.
