Middle Mile Infrastructure seeks modest expansion of fiber optic compound in Warrenton

Planning staff presented an application by Middle Mile Infrastructure to expand an existing ILA fiber-optic compound at 6390 Lee Highway Access Drive in Warrenton, adding a second prefabricated shelter (864 sq ft) and expanding the fenced area by 656 sq ft to meet growing communications demand.
"This amendment request includes the expansion of the existing fenced ILA compound by 656 square feet to accommodate the 2nd shelter... which the applicant states is necessary to meet the growing demand on the communications network," planning staff said. Staff noted the existing compound contains a 500 sq ft shelter and that technicians visit the site about once per month; landscaping and additional fencing would match existing screening and a site plan amendment would be required.
Staff said no increase in traffic was anticipated and that the planning commission recommended approval 4–0. The board heard two letters from a nearby homeowners association and a response from the applicant; no public speakers attended the planning commission hearing.
