City proposes raising rental-inspection fee to cover program costs and purchase enhanced software

Kim Quinn told the council the rental inspection fee must increase to cover the program’s cost and higher insurance: "it will be necessary for the rental inspection fees... to go from a $100 a year to a $115 a year." Quinn said staff added funding for enhanced rental-inspection software to the proposed budget, which informed the fee recalculation.
Quinn also said staffing adjustments affected animal services and other departments: two part-time animal-services positions were converted to one full-time position, and staff added funds for code book replacement and other operating items. Council members did not vote on the fee at the meeting; staff will present final fee ordinances and recommendations during the public hearing and adoption process in August.
