The council authorized a professional services agreement with Bob Murray & Associates to lead recruitment for a permanent city manager after a subcommittee of two council members reviewed proposals and interviewed finalists. City Manager McCann and subcommittee members summarized the selection process and recommended the firm based on presentation, responsiveness and flexibility.
Vice Mayor Spatarato said she wanted explicit contract language ensuring the firm will broaden recruitment beyond the usual city‑manager pool and provide council access to all applicant résumés (not only finalists) for transparency. Gary Phillips of Bob Murray & Associates confirmed he would include language for nationwide outreach and said it is standard operating procedure to provide councils with applicant materials; staff and the firm agreed to add clarifying scope language to the contract.
Council voted unanimously to approve the contract with those clarifying modifications. Staff said the existing subcommittee will continue to support the firm on brochure design and initial outreach.
