Director of Community Services Ashley reviewed the agreement’s main points, including maintenance responsibilities, season dates and a steering committee to set facility standards.
Ashley said the draft removes the earlier 90‑day termination‑for‑any‑reason provision. City Attorney Walsh reiterated the legal risks of a long‑term unilateral lack of a short termination right but told the council staff was comfortable proceeding based on the long partnership and the anticipated ability to work with the league.
The contract will be amended to restore a Section 11 clause (as was noted missing after posting) describing automatic renewal terminology and will add inclusive language for softball throughout. A council member asked about termination on breach and Walsh confirmed the agreement allows termination for breach by either party.
Council voted to adopt the agreement with the added language and clarifications. The motion passed on roll call.
