Glasgow City Council unanimously passed the second reading of an ordinance rezoning the property at 801 Columbia Avenue, changing the zoning classification from R-1 to B-2. City staff said the site contains 2.409 acres and that the applicant is Houchens Center for Children, Inc.
A city staff reader summarized the ordinance language, noting the Planning and Zoning Commission held a due-process hearing on June 15 and issued a unanimous recommendation supporting the rezoning. "The zoning of the property located at 801 Columbia Avenue containing 2.409 acres shall be changed from R-1 to a B-2 classification," the reader said.
Councilman Lowery moved to pass the ordinance on second reading; Councilman Kirkpatrick seconded. The clerk conducted a roll-call vote; the transcript records affirmative votes from Fennell, Mowery, Kirkpatrick, Traig, Norris, Shoemaker, Neil, Wilkinson, and Burress. The presiding officer announced the rezoning ordinance had unanimous approval and stated the ordinance takes effect upon passage and publication according to law.
The ordinance incorporates a schematic (exhibit A) and adopts the Planning and Zoning Commission’s findings as exhibit B. Staff reminded council that "all future development of this property shall comply with the development plan ordinance adopted by the council on 12/30/1991," as stated in the ordinance text.
Next steps: the ordinance will be published as required by statute and treated as adopted on second reading per the council's action.
