Cascade County reports 486 rejected ballots; 25 absentee ballots cured on election day

Election Administrator Terry Talps gave commissioners a breakdown of rejected ballots and the county’s cure process. She said there were 486 total rejected ballots across categories including no signature, mismatched signature, missing birth year, mismatched year of birth, and blank envelopes; of those, 137 were resolved and 25 absentee ballots were cured and counted the Monday after the election.
Talps also described how the county is manually tracking birth‑year rejections while a lawsuit over printing the birth year on absentee envelopes proceeds, noting the statewide system (electMT) does not automate the breakout and requires manual notices and postcard mailings. "486 total rejected ballots, were related to no signature, mismatched signature, no year of birth, mismatched year of birth, blank," she said, and explained the county’s cure deadlines and ID requirements for curing absentee rejections.
