Commissioners approve pole placement and hear local road updates

Kingsbury County commissioners on April 9 approved a right-of-way application from East River Electric to place utility poles along County Road 204 and received multiple highway updates from Superintendent Dave Sorenson.
Sorenson told the board that road postings had been removed and the 425th Avenue construction will begin next week. He reported that soil core samples on 215th Street “look good” with only a few spots needing extra consideration. Sorenson also said Redstone Dairy wants to move forward with a separate local project and has agreed to contract an engineer and pay the related costs.
Commissioner Corey Lundquist moved, and Steve Spilde seconded, approval of the East River Electric right-of-way for poles along CR204; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Sorenson additionally informed the board that a BRIC grant application for Structure Number 39-070-041 was denied and staff will prepare bid-ready documents to resubmit the project for future grant consideration.
The board briefly discussed the Highway Shop lot and other open highway issues in its open-discussion period; no formal action was taken on these items during the April 9 meeting.
