Auditor Echo Steffensen opened a public hearing on the supplemental budget and read Resolution 2026-5, which establishes budget item 301-311-425 for the 425th Avenue project in the amount of $3,666,000 and lists proceeds from debt as the offsetting means of finance. Commissioner Troy Nelson moved adoption; the motion passed on a roll-call vote: Lee — aye; Spilde — aye; Walls — aye; Lundquist — aye; Nelson — aye. The resolution was signed by the chairman.
The vote follows a highway update earlier in the meeting: Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson told the board construction on the 425th Avenue project will start next week and that the road will be closed during work. Sorenson also reported that core samples on 215th Street “look good” with a few spots needing extra work and said Redstone Dairy agreed to proceed with a related project and will cover engineering costs. County staff indicated the BRIC grant for Structure Number 39-070-041 was denied and that the project will be bid for eventual resubmission.
The county calendar shows the project's supplemental appropriation will allow procurement and construction steps to proceed; the board did not set an exact construction timeline beyond Sorenson’s update. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 21, 2026.
