Park Rapids council approves first readings of water, sewer and building-permit fee changes

The Park Rapids City Council unanimously approved first readings of two fee ordinances during its May 12, 2026 regular meeting.
Ordinance 641 would amend Chapter 36.09 of the Park Rapids City Code to revise water and sewer fees, and Ordinance 642 would amend Chapters 36.08 and 36.13 to update building permit and miscellaneous fees. Councilmember Little moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance 641, Councilmember Stone seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Engholm moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance 642, Councilmember Stone seconded, and that motion also carried unanimously.
Both items were presented with no discussion during the readings and will return for subsequent consideration under the council’s ordinance-adoption process. The first readings were recorded as procedural approvals only; any final rate or fee changes will take effect only if adopted on subsequent readings and published according to city rules.
