Residents press board over grading, equipment downtime and Depot Street work

During the road commissioner's report the board and residents discussed Depot Street work and town grading operations. The road commissioner said the contractor would rotomill and pave with the local water/fire district covering paving costs while the town would handle regrading to adjust crown and curb elevations. He reported that the Volvo was back running and the Kenworth needed minor repairs.
Resident Eric Davenport said he observed crews on Depot Street for multiple days, questioned why other roads (East Street, among others) had not been graded, and said equipment breakdowns had delayed promised work. "If the town was caught up on town roads, that's hunky-dory fine. However, the town started...and they've not come back," he told the board. Town staff acknowledged equipment failures and said they are pushing for closer oversight and will follow up with the contractor and project manager regarding cleanup and use of the fire station parking lot for construction staging.
